I'm surprised it fired. I guess the brass hung on the extractor for headspacing and it held well enough against the firing pin strike.

With the different taper, the 380 loaded to the same length of the 9x19mm will indeed have smaller case volume (note the smaller head size on the 380), but likely not enough to matter and the brass stretch would mostly even it out upon firing (making a pressure spike minimal).

Still, not a good thing. I have my kids help sort brass and maybe I need to be more careful...so far I guess I have been lucky.
