Re: Secure your ammo, especially in public!
I thought they didn't want you in the store shopping around after you bought ammo from them back there... They had to hold my hand and be escorted all the way to the door after the last time I bought ammo from them... Maybe I had that look about me... Good to know I cannot be trusted at WalMart... ...

Re: What day am I on???
Looking at others who applied in January and February, turnaround seems to be 70 to 100 calendar days with no hangups. You probably would have heard from them by now if there was some problem like missing information or bad photographs. - Jim I applied from Harris County. DPS received my packet on ...

Re: January Applicants
I wrote the letters etc. after day 60. I even have my own personal contact at DPS who is supposed to be helping me get this expedited. Now at day 95. I think they finally broke me. I'm not even mad or frustrated anymore. Actually, I'm just embarrassed at how inept our government employees are and th...

Re: Harris County Applicants
I also thought that it was ironic that Mr. English used the words "because of to the tight economic situation" right after he told me he was going to spend $100 Million of our tax dollars for the DPS on everything except what I was complaining about.

Re: Harris County Applicants
From the conversations that I've had with DPS and my District Representative, Harris County has one DPS officer performing background checks. This lone officer was pulled from performing said checks after Ike and his BC duty position was left vacant creating the huge backlog. He is now back at his d...

Re: And Now WE WAIT
I pre-registered online so I had my PIN before I even took the class. I didn't even bother checking until a month or so after my class. I would have ulcers by now if I started checking right away.

Re: And Now WE WAIT
It took about a month to get my pin back, but there was a holiday in there so you could blame the slow response to that. Once you get that pin #, your life is over. You'll be on that dps site everyday, Its kinda depressing after a couple months. Good luck... Man, that about hits the nail on the hea...

Re: NASA?
I went with a FBI Agent who presented his badge and he wasn't even allowed to bring it in. I think if he pushed the issue he could have, the guy at the door probably didn't know. The agent didn't want to push the issue and make a scene so we locked it up in the car.

Re: If i only had a gun....
On a side note, I am a UH graduate. For those that don't know, the north side of the campus bumps up against 3rd ward. You always are aware of your surroundings when going into the parking lots and especially the stadium lot on the north end of the campus. This kind of crime is way more likely to ha...

Re: If i only had a gun....
I thought this thread was in response to the Diane Sawyer piece showing that a gun wasn't really going to help you in a classroom shooting environment. It was very convincing except for the fact that they used a professional combat pistol instructor as the "bad guy on rampage" and put aver...

Re: January Applicants
To put our situation into perspective, I recently got a TWIC card which is administered by the Department of Homeland Security and authorizes me to work in refineries located on a port. There are two offices in Houston to get this card and by my estimates the one I went through at Woodbridge process...

Re: January Applicants
So if you read the original email on page 9 of this thread and the replies on page 10 this is what happened after that. First, the reply from Jon telling me that no laws were being broken: Mr. Stock, You know, I completely understand where you're coming from on this. What helps us the most is that y...

That's funny that everyone knows who Steve at DPS is.
The email chain between my Rep. and I continued. I feel it is pretty entertaining, I'll post it next.
