I had one sks with a slightly bent firing pin...never had a slam fire, but did experience a few light strikes. About $4 and a few minutes work and a new firing pin solved that problem. The sks is very simple to work on.

the old SKS design is one of the most user friendly designs ever put into production. With just your bare hands and a hard nose 7.62x39 round, you can strip down a Yogo to a pile of parts for "deep cleaning" in just a few short minutes (not considering the spring loaded bayo in the take down). Very reliable, moderately accurate, and heavy enough to use for a club on a buffalo. The bayo is pretty useful as a kick stand too
Not sure what the going rate is now, but having the original cleaning kit in the buttstock trapdoor used to add $25-30 to the value.
