and we don't keep our carry guns in the safe, we have and older teen and an adult teen and no longer feel the need to "safetify" everything. they both know where the guns are and how to protect themselves if we can't get to them.
It's funny that y'all have discussed this as a family. My wife, kids, and I did as well. Both kids understand that this is one of the few times where lying is completely acceptable and they will not be punished for it. Occasionally I'll randomly ask, "do you have guns in the house?" or "do your parents own any guns?". I either get an immediate "no sir" or a puzzled look followed by the same answer. My kiddos are well trained.
