CHL received yesterday!
My 120 days of processing appear to be shorter than the average for Harris County. That could be due to the calls to my state senator & representative's offices....

Re: March 2009 Applications
Oh, thank god - it's almost over. My status ticked over to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" overnight.
Harris County, and processing was four months to the day that they received the app. No missing paperwork, no re-do of fingerprints, etc.
I called my state senator & rep's offices, and they made calls to the legislative liaison @ DPS for me. No idea how much that may have helped, but 120 days < a number of other Harris County apps I've seen here. OTOH, I'm relatively stable in employment and residence, > 10 years at both. So perhaps less work to do on the BG?
Now I have to remember NOT to carry in the car, at all, during this gap period between "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" and receiving plastic. Don't want my tender bits in the wringer like happened to one other poor soul here in Tx after getting pulled over & 'failing to declare'...
My birthday is the end of June. When do you think I should schedule myself beginning the renewal process?

Re: March 2009 Applications
DPS website now shows my app 'processing'. I'm not sure exactly when this happened, though. I'd been expecting their website to list all the phases (app mailed... app received...app processing...), so hadn't been actually *reading* the single status line item on the webpage. Sheesh.
Anyway, my waiting has progressed a bit.

As an IT guy, that's just inexcusable in this day & age.skeetshooter wrote:I just called DPS and the lady told me their computers have been down since Wednesday due to a virus. Just peachy!!

Re: March 2009 Applications
I just joined the Waiting Class.
I prepaid online, have a PIN, and mailed the application off today. I'm not terribly optimistic about a <3-5 month turnaround, from everything I've been hearing.
