Generally, when robbers move you, it is for their benefit and not yours. In self defense you are taught to make whatever play you are going to right then and there, because the BG must feel that they are more vulnerable at that location. However, I am certain that had the owner/employee done so, he would now be wounded or dead. These guys are playing with fire. Could they have locked the doors? (It is a delivery business). People watching the front? Outside surveillance?JJVP wrote:Lucky, I agree. Prepared, not so much. Surveillance video might help catch the suspects after the fact, but would not have done anything to prevent the employee from being killed if the BG's had decided to get rid of witnessess. Some cash was stolen but the owner told KTXS they were lucky and prepared. Video surveillance caught everything
I am not arguing the fact that the employee could have been killed if he tried to attack the robbers. My problem is with the owners statement that they were "prepared" due to the fact that they had installed security cameras. Lock doors, situational awareness, outside surveillance, security guard, those are thing you might do to prepare. A security camera has never to my knowledge stopped a crime. If that was the case, he should have put a "No Robberies Allowed on the Premises" sign. Then he would really be prepared. (sarcasm).
