Re: Can I carry to my big office building for work???
Yah, the more I think about it I'm pretty sure it's not a metal detector. I'm not sure about the policy of my law firm because I start next week. I will def. Read through all their mateial they give me. I have a feeling some of the partners carry daily though. What about parking garages downtown? Ar...

Re: Can I carry to my big office building for work???
Thanks guys. I don't *think* there's a court in my building, as it's one of the commercial office towers downtown, not in the government buildings further north. However it *may* be connected to a federal court, since I know there is one downtown. If there was a federal something or other in the bui...

Can I carry to my big office building for work???
Is it legal for me to take my concealed handgun (I have a license) to work every day? It's a big office tower in downtown Houston and I work for a law firm. There are no 30.06 signs on the entrance, but I have to pass through what I think is a metal detector on the way in where I scan my card.

How likely is campus carry to pass?
I know it's up right now (HB 1893) but I can't find any threads about the likelihood of its actually passing. So the first person to say "do a search" is a rotten egg.

Re: Legal requirements for reporting justified self defense?
So basically....report any shooting/death. Obviously I would do that anyway. But I do NOT need to report a mere defensive play that leaves nobody injured. Thank you! I'd still probably do it like I said if there were witnesses but I've read a lot of first-hand accounts and surprisingly very few self...

Legal requirements for reporting justified self defense?
I assume you must (and it'd be really dumb not to anyway) report any justified shooting/wounding/killing of a perpetrator. But what if you merely present the weapon? As in, draw, get into stance, and point. BG drops weapon, turns and runs, you don't have to shoot. Are you legally bound to report thi...

Re: Can you CHL at state parks - specifically Pace Bend camping?
So I now know this can be done in a municipality, like the Greenbelt. What about Pace Bend? Is that okay? Lake Travis is a Lower Colorado River Authority controlled lake, so the lake could be posted, but I believe the park and land is maintained by Travis County, so they can't post the park itself....

Thanks. Why 2011 why not this year? Also out of curiosity what was wrong with their approach this time?
To second responder: why the hate towards open carry? What are arguments against?

When will we know whether OPEN CARRY becomes legal in TX?
I know there's a vote in the legislature coming when is it How do you feel about open carry? Tx is one of only a few states that disallows it most states only care about concealed. I personally would only do it while camping and hiking in remote areas for fear of mountain lions or a big angry buck(n...

Can you carry in parks/wilderness areas/green belt in Austin
A city worker told me I couldn't but I got the impression he didn't know. This was for the Barton Creek Wilderness area. Isn't there preemption in the law saying that no municipality can override state law, and the lower coloardo watershed authority cannot regulate eitehr?
