Re: June 2009 Applications
It does seem quick for Harris Co. I wonder if the new law helped speed up the process?mikeintexas wrote:Congrats williamkevin! But that's too quick for Harris County, isn't it? Hopefully, my wife's will be here soon. Class in late June, re-do fingerprints in mid August; maybe her's will be here in the next week or two!

Re: June 2009 Applications
Congrats all!! I took my class in June with the rest of my family (wife, son, brother-in-law and sister-in-law). Wife and bro-in-law have received plastic, son and sister-in-law are showing application complete. Mine is still processing because I had a brain fade and forgot some info on one of my fingerprint cards. I think it will be at least another month for me. ![banghead :banghead:](./images/smilies/banghead.gif)

Re: June 2009 Applications
Checked my status this morning and I'm finally showing "Processing Application". So now the clock starts running. Maybe I'll get my plastic for Christmas!williamkevin wrote:Got my letter today and I neglected to put my place of birth on one of the fingerprint cards. Live and learn I guess. I'm just glad it wasn't something worse!williamkevin wrote:Howdy...actually, I'm currently active guard/reserve on title 10 orders, so I qualified for $0 state fee for active duty. I included a current copy of my LES and ID card with the package. Looking at my copy of the application, I see where I left a gap in employment from Nov 08 to the present. I applied online last year and got the preprinted app back from DPS, but didn't take the class and submit the paperwork until June of this year. I neglected to make the correction on the app to reflect that I was still and in fact employed by the Texas Air National Guard.dicion wrote:You can call them, like, right now, and see why, so you can have it ready to send immediately after you get the letter.williamkevin wrote:"Application incomplete - missing information - detailed letter has been sent."
Perfect....
Reading your sig, I'm going to take a wild guess and say you applied for the 1/2 price discount for military?
Did you send them your DD-214 that says 'Honorable' as the type of discharge at the bottom, and/or a copy of your DD-256 Certificate?
I sent the DD-214 that didn't have the Type of discharge on it, That's what they got me on..

Re: June 2009 Applications
That makes me a bit nervous....dicion wrote:If you purchase any more firearms, and are delayed or denied, in order to keep it from happening again, there is an appeals procedure you can follow to allow NCIS to keep a record on you, that you are a verified eligible citizen to purchase a firearm.RiveraRa wrote: I tried to purchase a rifle today and when they called for the BG check they decided to put me on hold for a few days! This has never happened before. I know I have a very common last name round here so I made sure to put my SSN on the 4473 to help with any confusion. Appearently that didnt work.
Normally, each time NCIS Runs a check on you, it is treated like it is the first, and only gun you have ever bought. After the check, within 24 hours, any and all records of you purchasing that firearm are supposed to be destroyed.
The appeals procedure is detailled here: http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/nics/nicsappeals.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Specifically, I am referring to this part:If you continue to experience transaction denials or lengthy delays as a result of subsequent firearm background checks, you may be eligible for entry into the NICS Voluntary Appeal File (VAF). For more information pertaining to the VAF, you may contact the NICS Customer Service at 1-877-444-NICS (6427).

Re: June 2009 Applications
Your status will remain as "Packet mailed to applicant" until they start processing your application. Reading the different threads here, I'm seeing that it takes 4-6 weeks for the status to change to "Processing application". It'll happen. Doesn't make the waiting any easier though.......13MWZ wrote:Well shoot. I mailed my packet on the 9th, 10 days later it still shows "packet mailed to applicant". I live in Round Rock, it should have been there within a day or two. I knew I should have hand delivered the dang thing!

Re: June 2009 Applications
Thanks for setting up the June thread bro. Now I can throw my hat in the ring. Just sent off packages for myself, my wife and my son! We made it a family affair! We took our class just this last Saturday (6-6-09) from none other than Charles Cotton himself! I learned SO much in his class that my head is full and overflowing! Can't wait to take some tactical shooting classes from him. THANKS CHARLES!!!!timdsmith72 wrote:Didn't see June started already, so here goes:
Well, the wait begins. I completed my CHL class on Saturday and will be mailing my packet today!!
