Well, now that you mention it...karatedad wrote:Just wanted to stop in and say thanks to everyone who contributed to the threads referring to CZ and/or Cajun Gun Works. I've been looking for a steel 9mm and had almost decided on the Wilson Combat/ Betetta 92G Brigadier, until I ran across this thread and began researching the CZ. I called CGW for a little more info and placed my order for a CZ-75-B SA. Can't wait for it to arrive. My wife has been trying to take over my TRP while saying it could be even better if it was a 9mm so maybe this won't be the last CZ we purchase.

Re: CZ 75
If you're a Hi Power and 1911 guy, keep an eye out for the CZ 75 SA. Extended beaver tail, extended ambi safeties, SAO trigger. They're nice stock, but you can put in a flat SAO trigger from CGW that makes an amazing shooter when combined with their hammer and springs. This is probably my favorite gun I've ever owned.Steve wrote:Thanks for the feedback. Aftermarket support is pretty important to me. Just had a look at Cajun Gun Works and the selection is impressive. I will stick with the classic trigger, leaning to the manual safety version. I don't mind cocked and locked, love my 1911 and Hi-Power.

Re: CZ 75
From what I've read, the Omega is not as easy to fine tune as the original trigger. If you want a stock trigger and the ability to switch between the two, the Omega sounds like what you want.Charles L. Cotton wrote:I'm very new to CZ, but we have two. My wife's is a P-01 and mine is a Compact PCR. Both have decockers and I much prefer a safety. That's probably because I've carried a 1911 cocked & locked for decades. I've considered getting an Omega, but I'm not sure they can compare with a CZ with all CajunGunWorks parts installed. CGW doesn't list much, if anything, for the Omega. It may be that the Omega can be polished and achieve the same results as a gun with CGW parts, but I'd be surprised. The CGW Pro Kit makes the CZ75 a different gun.Steve wrote:What is the general consensus of the new Omega triggers for the CZs? I'm torn between getting the safety or the decocker model and it seems like the Omega trigger can switch between both modes.
Chas.
If you're wanting to really take your CZ to the next level, opt for the original trigger style. Much, much, much more aftermarket support.
I'm still using my P-01 as my daily carry....it replaced my G19, something I wasn't sure could ever be done.
I have to resist the urge to go nuts and buy an accu shadow every couple of months.

The new Berettas are interesting. I almost picked one up a few years ago.WildBill wrote: I really like that model. One of the reasons I didn't buy one was because of the availability of holsters.
My first carry gun was a Sphinx AT-380. It's a great little .380ACP handgun, but I had hard time finding a holster for it.
I have since gone to the PX-4 Subcompact. I like it a lot.
The good news on P-01 holsters is availability is much better these days. The one pictured is a blade tech, I've also used an alien gear iwb quite a bit, and galco makes some leather options I believe. If you're ever in Bell county shoot me an IM and you can shoot it.

Re: CZ 75
Thanks! Yes, the P-01 is a 75 compact, with a lightweight alloy railed frame. It is a pure joy to carry and shoot. It has some work done to it internally, and those are VZ grips in their frag pattern. Slightly thinner than the comfy stock grips, grippy enough to be good shooters without being abrasively grippy like some of their other patterns.WildBill wrote: Very nice looking gun and holster. Interesting looking grips too.
Is that a compact? It's also good to see that you're posting.

Re: CZ 75
Funny that you mention the G19. I've been carrying one for several years. It replaced a full size 1911 and has been a great gun. Still think a G19 is hard to beat.josehm89 wrote:I recently purchased a CZ 75 P-07 duty and have put about 400 rounds through it so far. not one single hiccup with different types of ammo. I picked it up for 360 and it came with 2 16 round magazines. I have to admit I like it a lot more than my G19. its compact enough to where its easily concealed. aftermarket parts aren't as readily available though. it gives you the decocker standard but also comes with the safety lever that can easily be switched out. great guns!
That being said, as of a few weeks ago the P-01 has completely replaced the G19 as my EDC. It's on my hip as I write this, and it's been every bit as easy to carry as the 19 was.

Re: CZ 75
Andy probably knows more about this than I do, so hopefully he will chime in.
I have heard lots of internet stories (you know how those go) about the ambi slide stop breaking and even the frame on the 85 cracking at the right hand slide stop. Don't have an 85 or know anyone who does, so no actual experience with the issue, and supposedly CZ redesigned some things to make it better on newer models.
As for the firing pin block, any of the 75b guns also have the firing pin block, with the exception of the Shadow models. That's actually what the B part of CZ 75b stands for.
Apparently I could eliminate what little pretravel my SA trigger has right now by removing the FPB, but it's already a pretty good trigger and while I've heard testing on the non FPB equiped CZs have shown them to be drop safe even without it, it's one of those things I'm not bothered enough by to change (and IIRC removing a "safety device" on a competition gun could also get me DQed in some competitions, so that's a factor for me as well).
To throw one more thing at you: If you're looking for a gun strictly for competition, CZ does offer this: http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-75-tactica ... 0-rd-mags/ in both 9mm and 40 specifically built for IPSC/USPSA Limited.

Re: CZ 75
It is, I just recently picked one up from Buds actually. Still alloy frame, decocker model.Charles L. Cotton wrote:Is the CZ P-01 still being manufactured and/or imported? I can't find any on Budsgunshop.com, unless I'm just missing them in the vast list of various models. There is an SP-01, but it's a full size gun with a rail. They have the CZ 75 Compact, but it's an all steel gun and I think the P-01 has an alloy frame.
Chas.
Found a link to Buds for you: http://www.budsgunshop.com//catalog/pro ... s_id/13658
What I'd love to find is a bit of a rare bird: The Compact L.
It's alloy framed with a rail like the P01, but instead of a decocker it has a safety, so I could convert a Compact L to SAO like my SA, which I can't do with my P01.

If you wait another week or week and a half I should have the last parts I need to get my P01 Cajunized too. The SAO is great, I'm curious to see what their parts do for a DA/SA gun.

Re: CZ 75
Not all CZ magazines drop free from the factory (though that can be fixed as well). Holdover from the European military "mag retention is more important than mag changes" mindset, I think and is a function of the magazine brake in the gun, not the magazines themselves.Charles L. Cotton wrote: It has the "drop free" magazine, but I'm not at all sure what that means. I would hope that the mags will drop from any CZ75, unlike the early days of Glocks.
I found this video impressive. He upgraded a 75 B trigger to get something pretty close to a 1911 trigger.
Chas.
That video is pretty close to how my trigger is now. It is nice.
Like I said earlier, about the only thing I can compare it to quality wise is my 22/45 with Vorquartsen parts, and that is about the nicest trigger I've ever fired on anything, pistol or rifle.
Springs/hammer kit from Cajun Gun Works is important too, not just swapping out the trigger.
Like I said, lots of kydex holsters out there (which I personally prefer for competition). There may be some nice leather options too, I'll check into it for you (and maybe for me too).

Charles L. Cotton wrote:I'm going to buy a CZ75, probably the SA version and I'm going to tell Martha it's your fault folks! I think you guys should donate to my CZ fund.
Chas.
Charles,
One thing I'd like to warn you about, despite the fact that I love my SA: Holster availability isn't as good for it as other CZs, IIRC because it uses the .40 cal slide profile instead of the 9mm profile so it won't fit into most traditional CZ 75 holsters.
There are plenty of kydex options for both concealed carry and shooting sports available for it, but leather and hybrid holsters might be harder to find. I don't know, all of mine for it are kydex and that works just fine for me.
You can always get a more traditional CZ and convert it to SAO, but I really like the SA because in addition to already being SAO, it has the extended beavertail and extended ambi safety that the traditional model lacks, and that was more important to me than holster availability.
