I don't know, I might hold it against you ;-)
The problem:

1) In these uncertain times it seems to me that having at had a short compact high capcity weapon firing a round effective to a 100 yards or so would be very usefull. Sort of an SBR without the Paper Chase and expense.

That would be nice.

2) One downside to such a blaster, is well the muzzle blast, and my ears are damaged enough as it is, and even with hearing protection a short barrled gun in an effective caliber hurts !

Yes. My AMD (12" barrel pinned to 16 with a brake) is the loudest AK I have by far.
3) The blaster in Question should be relative concealable, under a jacket, or nondescript case or bag.

The Solution:

1) I have a AK receiver shell never assembled and recorded on the 4473 as a Pistol.

2) I have a Hungarian AK Parts Kit, that without the Muzzle Brake has an 11 inch barrel - I could shorten this a couple of three inches without much trouble.

3) Use Sub-Sonic 7.62x39 ammo - I have the dies and a few ammo cases full of Winchester 7.62x39 Brass.

4) Use a Rail type upper hanguard and red dot sight.

Well what do y'all think ???? Will it be woth the trouble ??? ;-)
A few things. One, before undertaking this project I suggest you cut out a plywood cut out of the approximate size and try to hide it under a jacket, etc just to get a feel for where/how this thing could be carried.

I just measured one of mine and with an 8 inch barrel, the overall length should come to about 18" long. With a 20 round magazine, you'd be about 8" tall. so a rough cutout 18"x8" at the longest parts should give you a decent idea of the feasibility of carrying it.

There's also 2 ways to look at this thing. Its both a really cool, short long gun that's high capacity....and its a really heavy, cumbersome pistol that gets you another 5 rounds more (in a better caliber and assuming 20 round mag for ease of carry) than a glock/m&p/xd would.

If you can't figure out a good way to carry it on your person, I'd be tempted to just go ahead and SBR it so its usable as a rifle. Heck, a Draco with the underfolder trunnion could be a compact little SBR (and will probably be the one I eventually build, a Zastava M92 clone).

Because if you can't carry it on your person, I'd want to carry a pistol on me...so a backup rifle makes more sense to me than another back up pistol does. (not a huge fan of off body carry for a primary.)

Its an interesting idea, but you may wind up deciding its too heavy/cumbersome for on body carry. And if so, you might as well make a rifle out of it for briefcase/backpack carry. The 200+paperwork isn't really that big of a deal, and if you're worried about being on a "list", you shouldn't be on this forum, have ever taken a picture of a gun and put it online, or filled out a 4473. ;-)

My .02 on it.
