Well guys it looks like I'm done. Plastic came in today and the total time was 136 days. Good luck to all and I'm out of here until 2013 when its time to re-new it. Thanks for all the congrats and I cant say it was fun but it was nice chating with you guys. This was a good place to vent our frustrations with this whole waiting game.

It sounds like the same guy that told me my BG check was back. The next day my status changed. He also told me that it would be a couple of weeks before I get it in the mail. That was Monday, my status changed Tuesday so I am hoping when I get home from work today it will be in the mail. I will post up again when I get home....crossing my fingers. I think I went from not caring anymore to being bit by the impatient bug again.

I would check your staus tonight after 12, I think thats when they update the system. I was expecting to be really happy when they told me that but it wasnt what I thought. It was more like " ok, whatever, I"ll belive it when I see my licence in my hand. I think I might get it today or tomorrow. Looks like February applicants are slowly coming in now....FINNALY!

Thanks for all the congrats! One more thing, I checked my status last night about 11:30pm and it said I was sill processing. I checked this morning when I got to work at 6:45 and it said Application complete, I thought that was weird because I dont think their office is open that early in the morning. I didnt know if that info helps anyone but I thought I would share it.

Brin: Good luck, I was watching you to, so hearing that you are still waiting proves they dont have any kind of sytem set up to get those first out. I hope you get yours this week.

Well guys "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" It only took 133 days to see this messege. I guess they were telling me the truth yesterday. I really hope everyone who is in Harris County wont have to wait this long but in case you do try taking your mind off of it for a week or so, it helped me a little.....ok it really didnt but I tried to not think about it. CHL at the mercy of the system.

At this point I see no reason to call anyone any more. When I was at day 100 I called everyone I could and was told just about the same thing everyone else was being told. I called and emailed Sen. Mike Jackson's office and they had the DPS call me at work and tell me the same thing everyone else was being told. I know i did alot more calling and arguing that I want to sit here and type, So to be totally honest I think I got so mad that I just started to not care if I got it or not. It was a big surprise when I called yesterday and they said my BG check was back I almost fell out of my chair. I was even more surprised when I called this morning just to see if they would say something different and they did, they said that my licence was issued today and that I should have it in about 7 days. So who know whats what anymore because my status still says "Prosseing Application". I hope you dont have to wait as long as I have. I have a coworker that took his class and mailed his paperwork before me and they are telling him they are still waiting on his background check from Harris county, so go figure. there is no telling how these people work. I will wait until my status says application complete ao whatever it says when its finished to post here again. Good luck to you all.....I know I'm tired of waiting

131 days ...thats unforgivable

I actually called them after I posted my latest update and the guy there said and I quote " well I'll be darned, your BG check is actually back. You should have it in a couple of weeks because we still have to print the licence and mail it to you" Hopefully this is not one of their standard lies they tell people that are over 130 days. I will let you guys know if my status changes, as of now it still says...come on everybody you know this....." PROCESSING APPLICATION". You know after 132 days of waiting you start to really not give a crap any more.

I had quit checking my status around day 97 or so because I was tired of the "Prossesing Application" and I had quit calling the DPS because I was tired of hearing "Waiting on your background check" and I quit emailing my Reps. office because that wasnt getting anywhere. I broke down today and checked my status even though I said I wouldnt and it still says prossesing application. I am on day 105 in Harris county, so for anyone in Harris that is under 100 and wondering if anyone is over 100 days here ya go. The DPS said my application looked good and that all thry need is BC. Well I will try and hold off another week before I check my status again.

Day 98 and counting, No help from Sen. Jacksons office, only a call saying they are still waiting on??????...you guessed it "BACKGROUND CHECK"...give the lucky winner a prize for that answer. I am not going to check my status anymore. I think that is why it feels longer because I am constantly checking my status at least 2-3 times a day. I need to just sit back and try to forget that I am waiting on it. It wasnt that big of a deal around day 60-70 until I started this email the Senetors office and checking my status every day and then twice a day and then 3 times a day. I will post up when I receive my plastic and let you guys know. Good luck to everyone and I hope your wait is not as long or longer than mine.

I Dont really know, I hope they dont ask Harris county to do a backround check on you because if they do I would add another 3 months also. Good luck to you.Texas dosent make it hard to get a CHL, its the Countys that are slow in getting BG checks back to the state is what the problem is. I have a friend that had a problem with his fingerprints because he said he was nervous and his hands kept sweating so he smudged a few of the prints. He had them redone and sent back in to the state and he received his CHL plastic in a total of 86 days even after redoing his prints. He didnt live in Harris county so hopefully once you get back and redo yours it shouldnt take a lot of time, thats if they dont ask harris County for a BG check.
