I was attacked by a small mutt dog when I was a kid. I hit it with a 2 x 4 in the back and head several times before it stopped. I have also seen dogs take on large hogs and be wounded very bad and still continue the attack. If a dog is in attack mode pepper spray will do nothing to stop it. It does work well on pest dogs but not one pumped up and attacking. The only answer is to put something between the dog and the you or shoot it. That is my experience and opinion.
