On a more serious note, as an instructor, it's a lot of information to disseminate in 4-6 hours. As a student it's even more information to absorb in 4-6 hours.
And while the test we give is directly related to the day-to-day act of carrying a gun in public, but like so many academic ventures, the information has very little to do with actually carrying a gun in public.
Much like the written driver license test we all took has very little to do with the actual driving of a car in real-world traffic.
