Re: Both signs at McKinney Half Price Books

Welp, that just about does it, don't it.

I hate to lose Half Price Books, but as long as their policy is to disarm and post, I'll take my book shopping elsewhere. It seems Amazon has no such restrictions, is just as good a resource for out of print materials, and I don't even have to put my shoes on.

INext time I have the chance I'll look at the Houston area HPB stores and confirm/deny what I see, but it may be a few weeks before I get over there.

I had heard they were putting signs up and we were eating breakfast right next door so figured I would look. Don't know if they just hadn't gotten around to the 30.07 yet or what. Told my girlfriend it's odd to put a 30.06 up and not a 30.07. They've definitely lost my business.
The posting of a NEW 30.06 seems unusual, since (to my knowledge) HPB stores have never been 30.06 before, but in the big scheme of things, I can see why they'd handle it that way.

My take on it is that they are going 30.06, since if I'm concealed, you'd never know it, and as such, you'd never have the occasion to directly notify me otherwise. If I'm carrying openly, and you notice it, you mention it to me, and I now have effective notice. Not the approach I'd take, but then again, I'm desensitized to it (as are most of us on this forum.)

It's the first confirmed report (I've seen) of standalone 30.06 going up in response to open carry, but we may see more of it in the near future. Hopefully it will go away quietly once the streets remain paved with asphalt rather than blood for a while.
