Re: OCT Severs ties with Tarrant County Chapter.
Actually the best thing that could have been done from a demonstration point here in Texas to get OC passed is NOTHING. If we would have simply used the same tactics that worked to get our CHL laws passed we would have OC in 2015. Now that seems very unlikely.mamabearCali wrote:I am in favor of constitutional carry. Where I live there is OC of handguns....was in petco last night and a family walked in and the man was OCing. No one even noticed.
However I am also in favor of the art of the possible. It appears that long guns are scaring the crap out of people in TX.....If your tactics are creating the opposite effect of what you desire...time to rethink and retool. I would recommend OC rallies with empty holsters, or the bananas. Here in VA we protest our polls being illegally closed to OC with empty holsters.
Get what you can giving up and little as possible. Y'all have good gun laws on the whole. Don't sell it all for a pipe dream.

We need to unite and do work on both front organized public OC events and lobbying to get OC legal in Texas. United we stand, divided we falter.
So lets use the mythical "Texans United For Open Carry" group, which would possibly be known as TU4OC. Lets say there is a comic convention or Star Wars convention in town the group could walk around dressed up as male and female versions of Han Solo with a banana in the holster with a few dressed as a robot that would be called 2-4-OC. The group would catch the attention of the convention goers and they would look into the issue.
The next week get everybody together, call the media, go to the park and do a "pushing up for OC" event where the protesters each do up to one push up for each year that OC has been banned.
The next week do something different. The more unusual the better it is for catching the medias attention and leave the long guns at home because you don't want them to be the subject of the media coverage.
All great ideas that I could support.

Re: OCT Severs ties with Tarrant County Chapter.
OC of long guns to promote the passage of handgun OC is just plain stupid and has proven to be counter productive. Why would I unite with a group that is bent on behaving in a manner that is detrimental to something I believe in?Beiruty wrote:Remember that Mr. Greg Abott and even his opponent a very lefty-democrat Wendy Davis, both support the OC for 2015 session. When they want to get serious about doing constructive things to pass handgun OC we can talk. I'm not holding my breath.
What truly bothers me about long gun OCers is they remind me of the bullies in school. They strut around acting big and tuff but if it ever came down to actually fighting with those long guns to keep our 2A rights they would be the first to tuck tail and run.
