:iagree:
Exactly why I sold mine (with full disclosure that it had not been "degraded") instead of going through this whole ordeal. Will only buy tried and true products in the future.

I put 250 rounds through each pistol and did lots of dry firing. The smoothed out a little but still a long heavy pull (don't know how heavy as my trigger gauge does not go that high). I called Springfield Armory about this today. I told them that the trigger is significantly different than what is was went I bought them and that, if they had a trigger like that when I examined them in the store, I would not have bought them. Since the pistol trigger is so different, I asked for my money back. They said no to that. I was told to check the trigger pull. The spec for a recall pistol is 5.5 to 7.7 pounds. If it is above that, they will issue a call tag and work on the trigger. I told them that I did not want to send them in just to get a trigger that is 7.6 pounds. She assured me that they would take them down to 5.5 pounds if I had to send them back. She said it would only take two weeks as it will go to a different department than the recall department. She also stated that they did trigger jobs on XDs pistols and could take them down to 4 pounds but, because of the recall, they are not doing any "special" trigger jobs now.

I will need to borrow a gauge from a friend to see what I have. If they are over 7.7 pounds, they are going back to SA. Will update when I know more.
This is what I'm afraid of. If mine comes back like this I will probably sell it and move on.
I invested $18 in a replacement spring kit from Powder River Precision that is supposed to improve the trigger action substantially. I'm still waiting for it to be delivered.

I'll let you know what I think about it once I get it installed and tested.
Thank you. Look forward to hearing what difference it makes.

Hopefully some one comes out with a kit that improves the trigger. I know PRP had a spring kit before the recall - not sure if they have released one for post recall or not - or if it will help or not.

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...

A heavier feel wouldn't bother me. Shouldn't a little more weight and the lighter load of the 9mm considerably reduce felt recoil?

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...

I was doing a little googling and realized that there have been more than a few claims of Glocks "going full auto". But yet Glock didn't recall an entire line to address the issue.
I have only seen a couple of claims of this happening with the XDs yet Springfield recalls the entire line. Really sounds like an overreaction to me.

Wow, I don't know what to say. Thanks. It looks like I may be picking up a G19 in a trade Thursday (for a rifle that was living in the back of the safe). A lot bigger than the XDs but it will work.
If you do get it, I would love to hear your take on the difference between the two especially related to recoil and follow up shots. I have toyed with the idea of trading my .45 for a 9mm if there is a significant difference in follow up shot placement.
Again, thank you for the offer and Merry Christmas.
Would be nice to see how many members are close and get together for coffee one Saturday.

The last update says mine will be delivered by 1/31.
Haven't sent mine in yet. Will do so after the holidays. Working on getting something small to carry while it's gone.

jmra, I hear you and folks over at the XD Talk forum are reporting the same. However, some say they cannot tell the difference or that the "upgraded" XDs is better.
Here is a report from GunsAmerica that says it is different, but better, but since SA advertises on GunsAmerica suspect the report is biased.
http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/springf ... aded-guns/

Hope I will find out one way or the other soon.
Just read the article, sounds like a paid advertisement to me. I have yet to hear from a board member or someone that I know and trust who even considers the trigger to be acceptable much less better. Maybe it will smooth out with use, but I don't like what I'm hearing right now.
As far as the articles claim that the gun "shoots better" (suggesting the "upgrade" made the firearm more accurate) all I can say is "rlol" .

Again this is not what I'd hoped to hear. I'm not at all interested in a trigger like that. May send mine in and then try trading it for a g26 or g27 or a PPS.
