Most of the advice comes in other threads, but I'll give you one of my thoughts here. Having a concealed gun on you gives you an option. It is up to you at the time to decide if you want to avail yourself of that option. I struggle with the same issues you do (I think you'll find most of us do).

39, married 10 yrs with children 6 and 8. CHL for 2 years. Shoot IDPA as much as I can. Carry Glock 19 (midsize 9mm) in Comp-Tac ATAC.
