That's different than what they were saying a couple of years ago. Back then they mailed licenses out once a week. If your license was finished the day after the mailout, you got the privilege of waiting an extra six days for the next mailout. Hopefully she wasn't just telling you what you wanted to hear! Congratulations, BTW, on your pending license!Lonestar 48 wrote:She thought it would be in today since it was on a list of completions, and she said it would go in the mail as soon as it comes in the door.
Hope this gives a little insight into what is going on in Austin.

Re: THe Newest DPS Excuse
Lots of PD's are sending any "extra" officers to areas affected by Ike to still help keep the peace, help with clean up, help search for the missing (last I heard there are still some 400 people missing), and recovering bodies. That means that the people who would normally be doing background checks may be transferred to the coast to help out or covering shifts for someone else who is. Ike came ashore in a very populous area, so that area needs help (in all facets) to get back on its feet. All of the police officers I know are the absolute last people on earth to refuse to help. I know it is a pain. I know it is frustrating. But that's the way things are right now.
