Training class idiots...How about showing up for the CHL Instructor Renewal in 2007 only to find that several of the INSTRUCTORS present for RENEWAL haven't the foggiest idea of how to maintain or operate their firearms. These are the folks I think are dumb enough to go through the instructor's course so they don't have to sit through the regular CHL class every five years. So instead they go to instructor school for twice as long, every two years!!! As Bill Engvall said, "Here's your sign..." But wait, there's more...

I had an "instructor" four slots down from me who couldn't understand why his 40 Short and Wimpy, Glock 23 wouldn't run on 9mm Loser ammo. Of course, a little oil on the gun might also have helped (not really) but, last time I checked, Glock can run dry for a little while provided it's at least clean when you start. I'm not done yet...

To the right of the guy with the wrong ammo, there was the guy in the wheelchair around station 43 or 44. In addition to apparently having his booger hook glued to the bang switch of his customized super secret ninja squirrel 1911, when this "instructor's" firearm wasn't tracking buzzards and satellites, it was placed on the barrel so that it pointed at the burm to the left of the shooter at station number 1. Think about that for a minute.

Oh, and at least one person present at the renewal graduated from the Joe Horn School of Public Speaking. Why might I say this? Well, Lt. Derrick had just finished the Chapter 9 refresher and was conducting the Q&A when someone started a war story...No school is ever complete without the war stories. I'll confess to a few of my own so almost all of us are guilty of these at some point. Still, I missed the gas station between the start of the story and the point at which this person explained his intent was to kill any intruder interrupting his movie.

I think that's all I've got for now...I'd had some other class experiences I wanted to post earlier but this one was fresh in my mind.
