Re: Requirement to Present CHL @ Time Of ID Request by Officer
I have great respect for LEOs and for what they represent. I guess it's something I learned while in Marine Bootcamp. I see LEO 's as Officers of the law, and every time I have been pulled over, I have had the habit of turning the courtesy light on and not make any sudden moves, hoping it's for benefit of both. I wait patiently and respond to their reason for stopping me as politely as possible and in return all the LEOs have responded with the same respect and courtesy. They seem to appreciate my manners and not feel threatened. At the end, they just give me a verbal warning and at most a warning ticket. Before bootcamp, my manners were opposite, and the more I argued my pulling over,(regardless) the less polite LEOs treated me,and never left without a $$ ticket. Let's give LEOs the respect they deserve. It's a very dangerous job, so let's make it easier for them by presenting both Drivers license and CHL and tell if we're carrying or not, just out of courtesy. I haven't been pulled over after getting my CHL, but I will do the same, as for LEOs reaction to my CHL, is yet to be seen.Bye.

Re: Requirement to Present CHL @ Time Of ID Request by Officer
Thank you Frost. I guess every incident when pulled over by a LEO will be different. However, I would assume that all LEOS should have the right common sense to understand that the "C" in CHL means" CONCEALED" so in other words meaning NO ONE SHOULD KNOW. I would also assume that having a CHL is not public information. Still ,I just wonder how LEOS feel when they they see a CHL. Do LEOS see us as a threat because we are armed, or would they feel more relaxed knowing that if you have a CHL , you would be considered a more responsible person because of state and federal background checks. Not everyone is elgible. I was just trying imagine that if I was a LEO, having a person showing me his CHL would give me a sight of relief and put a smile on my face. I'm just very proud of my CHL and the responsability that comes with it.CHL holders are very special persons who are on the side of the law.My respects.

Re: Requirement to Present CHL @ Time Of ID Request by Officer
So, if LEOS don't care to expose me as a CHL holder, how can I keep my passengers from knowing that I'm armed? Would it make matters worse if when asked for ID, and as I show my CHL, tell the LEO "yes, (meaning I'm armed) Please keep it private.(Meaning don't let my passengers know.)??????. I just don't want to let it be known that I carry. The less people to know. the better.

Re: Requirement to Present CHL @ Time Of ID Request by Officer
Do LEOS keep silent when you show them your ID and CHL? The reason I'm asking is cause, what if you're driving your vehicle and you have passengers with you that don't know you're carrying your pistol and don't know you have a CHL, and you don't want them to know. Will LEOS ask you if you are armed in the presence of others? Anyone relate to this?.....Gracias.
