The TSA agent did not relay that info to person running the scanner and he freaked out. "There is a WEAPON in that bag!" Supervisors were called and it took a few minutes to satisfy them that it was correctly declared, packed and unloaded. They ask if I was with a government agency. I laughed and told them no, just a chl holder that carried everywhere it's legal.
There was about a 10 min delay that should have been avoided, but not a big deal.

2 notes of caution:mrappe wrote:I have never traveled by air with a weapon. What do I need to do to check in lugage with my guns? Does anyone have any experience with this?
I will be flying to VA. and driving to PA. and WV. Any advice would be appreciated .
Thank You,
Mike
1. Allow a little extra time to clear security, times vary airport to airport and day to day.
2. IF your flight gets diverted to another state (Fog, snow, mechanical issues) such as New York Or New Jersey where handguns are illegal or heavily controled..... DO NOT take possesion of your bag. Make arrangements for the airline to secure it until they get you back to friendly territory.
