19 aye--Reps except Ogden, plus Whitmire.

Re: HB 3639 - SB 1581

Rememer that 2012 is the first election after redistricing, so all the state senators will be up for reelection. Good turnout for our side could lead to a large pro-gun majority in the Senate for the next session.

It looks like it would only require a majority vote--see p.113 here (Senate Rule 21.01).

Best way to force a new speaker would be to make sure Straus doesn't get another term in the House. Anyone know if the Bexar County Tea Party is up to backing someone for a primary challenge?

There's no way Aycock doesn't lose his A rating for his attempt to remove campus carry in committee.

This. If the economy stays in the crapper, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Republican majority in the House stay this big or expand in 2012. Hopefully if that happens we could get a Speaker who is better than ambivalent at best to gun rights.

If the balance of the Senate shifted some too, 2013 could be a good year for campus carry. Of course it would happen the year I'm planning on graduating.

Re: HB 3639 - SB 1581

Of course, all this pocket gun talk is irrelevant if the House doesn't get their rears in gear and get some form of campus carry passed. :waiting:

Even if it does me no good, anything would be a good starting place.

It is. Trust me. I've tried both. J-frame pocket carries MUCH better/easier than a baby Glock.
:iagree: big time

The small Kel-Tec 9s aren't a bad choice if you're on a budget. They may need some TLC but you have some time for tuning before 9/1 if campus carry fully passes this year.
Yeah, I need to get hands-on with a G26 and see for myself. The KelTec looks like a good option, the LC9 seems to be priced very reasonably (<$400 in the most recent Academy flier), and Kahr also released a budget version of the PM9 recently.

Seecamp is my BUG, some others on here have them too; that's what IV kept saying; if 2178 passed, pass whatever "policy" you want, you won't see my Seecamp
I'm a student--I'm not made out of money. Seecamp and Rohrbaugh seem to be the top of the heap for pocket guns, but they're too rich for my blood for a few years yet.

I was looking at the LCP or or P238, or maybe the pocket 9's that SIG, Kimber, and Ruger have put out recently. I don't really have a problem with carrying a .380 but I'd prefer 9x19, and I have decent sized pockets.

I was even considering going with a Glock 26, since my usual carry is a Glock 19. The G26 doesn't seem like it would be harder to pocket carry than the S&W 642 I use as a BUG now.

I wonder if the IRS will accept that as a valid educational expense for the tax write-off. :biggrinjester:

I was planning on getting a pocket auto to carry to school, but it looks like I won't have that excuse since private institutions won't be included.

If I'm counting right (and it's been a long day), then about half (37/76) amendments are filed by reps who didn't cosponsor the House campus carry bill. I expect Aycock will be the one to try to remove campus carry.
