Re: Medical Office Building
As for being a teaching office, not an issue unless its OWNED by an accredited teaching hospital. The teaching hospital issue is kinda weird. EVERY hospital has interns, residents, etc. So every hospital can be said to be a "teaching" hospital. IMO, what makes a hospital a true teaching h...

Re: DEEPER than IWB
There is always a tradeoff between degree of concealment and draw speed. I don't see much point in carrying deeper than IWB. As it is, my draw from IWB is slower than a draw from OWB, but I can still draw "acceptably" quickly. If I need to draw, I don't want to be rooting around down in t...

Re: Trip to Heck ... I mean NJ/NY
In the years that I lived in NY and fought the gun laws there, I was never able to find anyone who could define what a "slungshot" is. And a court has held that even though a slingshot does not have a wrist brace, it is still covered. Slungshot --aka "slingshot" or "monkey ...

Re: Anyone use Federal Tactical HST?
I use Federal HST 9x19 147gr in all my self-defense pistols. Fortunately I purchased 500 rounds of it from AmmunitionToGo a year or so back, so I'm in no danger of running out any time before the market goes back to normal.

Re: University parking lot and 30.06 posting
I actually stopped and took a picture of a 30.06 sign at the turn in to the UMC ER. There is also one just like it posted on the highway right of way on Texas Tech Parkway, right after you turn south off 4th street. I don't carry when I'm on the ambulance, and I don't go there when I'm not at work,...

Re: El Paso International Airport
Only one TABC license comes up when you search the airport address (6701 Convair Road, El Paso), and that's a non-51% establishment.

Agreed; Col. Cooper's Four Rules are all anyone should ever have to remember. I always drill them into a new shooter's head before we get to the range.george wrote:I'd never get any shooting done, if I had to remember all of those rules.

Re: Anyone carrying OWB and at least a size 2XL?
6'1", 240#. I primarily carry OWB, Glock 19 in a DeSantis Nemesis. I don't think it's different than for anyone else--good holster (I like pancake types), good belt (Wilderness Instructor's belt or 5.11 leather belt [got a bunch free with some pants]), clothes a bit on the large size (which doe...

Re: Any Alessi holster owners?
4 months isn't unusual for custom holster makers. I don't have any Alessi leather, but I have a couple Mitch Rosen holsters and that was about how long I waited.

Re: Firearms as Gifts
Depends on the state. If its a gun friendly state many allow inter family transfer without paperwork. Doesn't matter if they are residents of different states--there is no exception for family. The only time federal law allows an interstate transfer without involving an FFL is when settling an esta...

Re: Scary Medical Questions
As far as the 100,000 veterans who've lost the ability to purchase a new gun because the VA has given their name to the NICS because of mental insufficiency... if you're not able to handle your own money, pay the bills, handle your own meds, all the things that a person living in our society has to...

Re: I'm calling it: Gingrich/Rice in 2012
Gingrich/Rice Gingrich/Santorum----works for me. Let me know where to get the bumper sticker at. Either of those tickets would guarantee Obama a second term. I, and I expect many other independents, would sit out the election rather than vote for either of those. You would rather see another Obama ...

Re: Texas constitutional amendment prop. 9-pardons
I too would have forgotten to vote on election day, but it came to mind when I was at work one weekend so I stopped by one of the early voting locations which is on my way home. Didn't particularly care about the municipal elections, but I make it a point to vote against all spending/bond issues on...
