I carry everyday, and plan on carrying everday for the rest of my life. And I hope and pray that I NEVER have to pull the trigger. Be aware of your surroundings, be safe, and take precautions, and hopefully you will NEVER have to use your weapon on somebody else. I worked in the bar business for about 12 years, so I know how you feel. Always if you can, walk out with somebody. If that's not possible, always be on the phone with somebody while you walk out. If you feel you are in a dangerous area, there must be police around the area (if not working at your bar off duty). Get to know them. Get there cell number, and ask them to swing by around 'closing time'. I always had my beat officers cell numbers, just in case (just had to give 'em a few pizzas to get the number, haha). There are MANY options to stay safe other than "just get a gun".
BTW I carry the M&P 40c and it's great!
