I was beginning to think I would challenge Kalrog for the record, but Geopagus was right that I would get mine a few days after him, since we both sent in our apps a few days apart.
I still think many of these lengthy times are attributed to the specific admin who handles your app at DPS, and whether or not they do their processing job in an expedient manner or are totally disorganized and poor performers.

This morning I am at 85 days and the website still says processing application. Called the 800 # to inquire about status and they told me the license would be mailed out this afternoon and to allow 7-10 days for delivery. I guess I should be happy about that, however, I really do not see why there should be such differences in turnaround time, unless a submittal was incomplete, the finger prints were unidentifiable, or someone had some issues in their past.
Oh well, I hope everyone else in process has better luck!

For those that have experienced more than 60 days, and called DPS for explanation, did you remind them of the statuatory 60 calendar day timeframe, and if so, how do they react?? Unfortunately much of their processing is dependent on input from others and is out of their control, unless they are supposed to proactively expedite any slow responses to background/finger print checks. I just wonder if it is worth providing that "gentle" reminder as to their turnaround obligation to get things moving. I am not at this point myself, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared.

Hi Folks, DPS received my packet for a new license on 12/15/05 (as noted by post office return receipt). I have not received any PIN notification to date, so I just sent them an email requesting my PIN. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for a reply.
It appeared that their turnaround was starting to improve, but now looks like it is going in the opposite direction. Too bad there is no recourse (eg automatic issuance) once the 60 day period has been exceeded.
Well I guess its time to hunker down and try to be patient. Very nice forum!! I have been a lurker for awhile and am looking forward to being a more active poster in the future.
