Good chance for the legality-challenged to fence all those stolen guns, "wet" guns, and, uh, undocumented NFA stuff that has outlived its usefulness. No questions asked!

I don't know ... I have accumulated some "economy" handguns that wouldn't bring a dime through normal channels. Those might be worth selling at that price.
Why nothing for shotguns?
I don't like the phrasing "... tell an officer you're there to turn in a gun." "Turn in" implies to me that there is some compliance or legal obligation involved. I guess they couldn't bring themselves to say, "sell".
