I used one of these to tame some front strap serrations:

Personally, I'm not big on finger grooves.

Re: Haiti - probably don’t want to visit
In the 1980's I had a warrant officer who was from Haiti. The Army had a mission there, and he was approached for the assignment. He said something like, "I worked very hard to get out of there. I do not wish to go back."

Did you use a micrometer or calipers?
When did you last calibrate your micrometer or calipers?

Re: Colt 1911, max range 82 feet
82 feet is really close to 25 meters. Still, about half of the 50 meters I recall as the maximum effective range I was taught for M1911/M1911A1.

Re: 38 special wadcutters?
Factory .38 Special 148-grain wadcutter loads tend to be very good target loads. They are normally loaded to low velocity ("mid-range"), often around 700 feet per second. It's mild in recoil and report, it tends to be accurate, and it makes clean, easy-to-score holes in targets. It's also ...

Re: What Did You Do In The Reloading Room This Week?
I recently put together a case annealing machine for rifle brass (Bean Machine v3), and put a coule of hundred cases through it over the weekend. It works nicely for '06 and .308. It's not yet perfect with .223. It still requires a little tinkering on one of the parts I made. Even with that, it does...

Re: Nickel vs Brass Casing for Carry Ammo and Reloading
For carry rounds, I'm more concerned about the feeding reliability and performance of the bullet than I am about the case finish. I've never had a feeding or extraction problem that I would attribute to a case being plated or unplated. I don't seek out nickel cases, but won't reject them either. For...

A friend of mine flew them in the Army, but he pronounced "Chinook" rudely. The forum safe version would be "Stuff-hook".

Re: Grab a gun SCCY DVG-1 9mm $145.99 after rebate 10+1 two mags
The DVG series is a little smaller in the grip, front-to-back, in part due to being striker fired vs the hammer fired CPX's. I've put a few boxes through a CPX with no hiccups. Worst issue for me: My trigger finger gets beat up by the trigger guard in firing. It's noticeable after a couple of magazi...

Lubbock - Dogs Attack Woman, Dead Person Found Nearby
Dogs attack woman, shots fired in defense. Dogs ambushed a woman walking her dog. The dogs were chased off by an armed man working nearby, who fired at the dogs. A human body was found near the scene, possibly killed by the dogs. Pending autopsy. Three dogs were later caught and euthanized. Lubbock...

Re: Suppressor's
Which absolutely befuddles me! How on earth a suppressor ever became categorized in the same group as a fully automatic weapon is beyond any reasonable comprehension. In the run-up to the National Firearms Act of 1934, there were attempts to include handguns as well. It was largely because of the N...

Re: Help Identify Bullet
Some rimfire rounds had rims that would fit into a .45 case, such as .38 rimfire.
