You are absolutely correct! I believed that until I joined the forum and started reading the penal code for myself. Last renewal, the DPS lady lawyer was STILL teaching that churches, hospitals, etc, are still off-limits.sjfcontrol wrote:No wonder so many seem to think it's illegal to carry in church!

There was one year that I remember the instructor test being different. That was probably either 2001 or 2003. I remember it had questions on it about penal code sections. Like... what chapter contains the code on "use of deadly force"? What government code sections deal with eligibility?
They probably went back to the student test because they had such a high failure rate. Yes, really. You gotta figure there are about 4000 certified instructors in Texas. Maybe a dozen, or so, are on this forum. Maybe another couple of dozen are active in the TSRA. That means that about 3000 of them get their only info on CHL matters from the DPS. Need I say more?
