Tom,

I certainly understand how sometimes things on the board tend to get all blown out of proportion, and I never meant to say that CHL instructors should be required to take any additional training.

However... some instructors naturally have more credibility than others. As a female instructor, and without a law enforcement background, I find that I have to prove myself on a regular basis. So, I shoot competitvely, I try to stay informed on current issues, and I take as much instruction as I can.

For me, the NRA credentials are very important. For you, and others, they may not be so important. Definitely not required. Everyone has their own priorities.

Thanks!

Thanks, Chas. I have not been able to find either instructor course offered locally, so I will be checking with y'all and, looks like, planning a trip to Houston to take care of this.

I agree that both of these are needed and definitely should be considered an important addition to the CHL instructors training. Thanks for continuing to "badger" the NRA for us!

Thanks, TraCoun. I am already a Basic Pistol Instructor, but it will probably be more than a year since my certification before you are ready to go.

Just keep me informed. I saw the overview of the PPOH course, and it looks like an excellent next step for CHL holders. I definitely want to take the class, and then we will see what has to happen to become an instructor for it.

Charles - Are you an NRA training counselor? I would like to get certified to instruct Personal Protection Outside the Home. I realize there are several steps in that process, so please let me know what you know about it. Thanks!
