They will start qualifying early in the morning. The trick is to make SURE you qualify on your first time out while it's still cool. (Cool being a relative term) Oh, and, take LOTS of water with you.

When you are done with the course, you will be good to go. Except... it will take a few weeks to get you entered into the DPS database, so you won't be able to order certificates right away. And that IS a requirement to teach a class. You will find out all about that before you leave on Thursday.

As far as your NRA credentials, that would have gotten you into the shorter instructor class, but since you are already enrolled in the 40 hours class, I would go for the duration. It's all good info.
