Re: My first AR
Check out Holosun for inexpensive red dot. I was fortunate enough to get to go to SHOT Show in 2017 where I first saw them. They figured out Aimpoint circuitry so battery life is similar in years. They have a model with solar panel on top so get both solar power if light available or battery as need...

Re: USAF pilots' ejection seats to have M4 variant & 120 rounds.
In SEA, and I assume current combat environments, we carried a Blood Chit in our survival vests. It was a silk cloth with US flag and verbiage in all the local indigenous languages to the effect that you were in distress and our country would reward you if you helped the downed airman. They harkened...

Re: USAF pilots' ejection seats to have M4 variant & 120 rounds.
My response is dated as I flew F-4s but imagine the seat kits are similar to current aircraft. The seat kit was a hard pack that attached to the parachute harness (parachute itself was part of ejection seat). After ejection and the parachute opens, the seat kit opens, if set on automatic. (In SEA we...

Re: Vehicle Gun Safes
Having had a pistol stolen from the console of my F150 in 2011, I now have a Console Vault in my current F150. While nothing is foolproof, I think it is very secure AND it is quickly accessible unlike some of the cable attached devices (which I’ve used previously). Very satisfied with the Console Va...

Re: Any Recourse Against Sneaky Tax Raise?
Dan Patrick, our Lt. Gov., got into politics for this very reason. I used to listen to him regularly on this radio show before he was elected. Property taxes can go up 10% per year on appraisal increases. The politicians proudly tell us they didn’t raise our taxes (the rate). Of course not, you just...

Re: Hudson H9 - Own One? Review Please!
Oh, one other thing, not a lot of holster/mag holder options yet. Found both from DSG but they are only OK. Would like to see Comp Tac offer both.

Re: Hudson H9 - Own One? Review Please!
I was fortunate to get to go to SHOT Show in 2017 where I got to see and handle the H9. Met the Hudson’s, both Army vets. I’ve been intrigued and have lusted after one ever since. Ordered from Bud‘s Guns, picked it up at my FFL on Monday, and took to the range on Wednesday. Set up three IDPA targets...

Re: Calaveras and Braunig Lakes
Back to the original topic, I find it odd that the lakes are posted 30.06 but the power plants themselves are not. I was in industrial sales until I retired recently. All the power plants from LaGrange to Marble Falls to Christine were my accounts. I always look for 30.06 signs and recall that only ...

Re: Oh no!
Bought one in 1972 before shipping out the SEA. The Air Force used S&W .38 Combat Masterpiece Revolvers for aircrew and Security Police in those days. I had an instructor in F-4 training who was shot down on his first tour. I recall him commenting that a revolvers was a POS to reload when you’re...

Re: Not watching the Superbowl
Wife and I were watching movies instead on Amazon Prime. Happened upon “Taking Chance”, a true story where Kevin Bacon portrays a Marine Officer who performs escort duty for Chance Phelps, Marine KIA in Iraq. What an irony in contrast with the respect from everyone along the way vs the clowns in NFL...

Re: Not watching the Superbowl
Never been a basketball fan, do like baseball but Dish Network hasn’t carried the Astros in several years, so look forward to football every year. Big fan of the Texans, College (especially my Aggies) and been a season ticket holder of the local high schools in my last two towns. Turned on first Tex...

Re: Red dot reflex sight
I saw the Holosun at SHOT Show last year. They offer a model with red dot like Aimpoint or reticle like EOTech. Claim battery life similar to Aimpoint’s. Also have a model with a solar panel so works if enough ambient light, even if battery is dead. I’m big Aimpoint fan but have bought two Holosun a...

Best gun club in Texas. Great facilities and members. One of few things I miss about moving from Houston to Hill Country. Really miss PSC and my shooting buddies

Re: Red Dot sight question.
I was cleaning out literature from SHOT Show and found the Holosun catalog. They offer the reticle as well as the red dot which I prefer. Reticle option is there for those who prefer that.

Re: Red Dot sight question.
I’ve been an Aimpoint fan for some years. I prefer the red dot over the reticle, it so fits me. I especially like the Aimpoint battery life. I was lucky enough to get to go to SHOT Show this year as an “employee”of a friend. Holosun makes a mini red dot with claimed similar battery life to Aimpoint....
