I don't see any chance of an attempt to repeal the 2nd. There may be another AWB attempt, if they get their way on some other stuff and feel some momentum. But I see any real anti-firearm action to be taken by regulation through the various faceless bureaucracies. The OSHA stuff saying firearms are a health hazard in the workplace, the implications of what is happening in the Health Care debate, the UN Small Arms Treaty threat, etc.joe817 wrote:First of all I don't think the government has the ability to "outlaw" guns. It's in the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution. In order to "outlaw" or ban guns, the 2nd would have to be repealed, and that would involve a new amendment repealing the 2nd. And that would require ratification by 2/3 of the state legislatures. (note: there are other methods to have an amendment repealed)
Can we say 'snowball's chance'?
All Obama (or any other anti-gun president) has to continue saying is "I support the 2nd" while he's doing this other stuff behind the scenes and it will sneak up on us. Eternal vigilance, and all that...
