My bank also posted 30.06 and 30.07 after the 1st of the year and I ended up speaking with the president about it, after a couple of e-mails back and forth. At 1st he held the line about "for the safety of customers and employees" junk, but when I didn't buy it and offered some rebuttal, he admitted he agreed with my thinking but - in his words - "nearly every banking association highly recommends the posting for national banks." This, in addition to the fact that they were coming up on a banking audit in July, makes me think that, although there may be no specific wording, they are made to feel like it would be better for them when the auditors show up.
I too am looking at other banks that don't (at this time) have posted 30.06 signs and wondering if there are some that will hold out or if it is just a matter of time. As I left his office that day, I did tell him that they needed to do away with the slogan "your hometown bank" because it wasn't as long as the 30.06 sign was up.
