Re: When is a school a school?
I wouldn't hesitate to conceal carry when church is going on and school is not in scession. In my opinion, considering some of the recent shootings, yes, I think it is worth the very small risk. Besides, concealed is concealed.

Re: Let's Really Protect Our Schools
I feel fortunate that the school I work for moved to allow some to carry concealed weapons over 3 years ago. We are not a huge school (slightly over 1000 total students), but our location is rural with the potential for a 10 to 15 minute wait for law enforcement help. They paid for a 2 day defensive...

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 26 dead 20 injured in mass shooting
A couple of us discussed this today at school where we carry and frankly 9mm Shield (or any pistol) vs. AR style weapons is daunting even with training, but as someone said earlier - you work with what you're handed - maybe praying for Divine intervention. For those that say they carry only for thei...

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church attacked 16 shot breaking
I am saddened but also shocked that there was not one or more concealed carry folks in attendance. I see no way a rural church like this was posted. Of course more will come out in time.

Re: Renewal Time Very Quick
The 3rd of May I did my application online and my new card was in my mail box on May 15th. I was surprised - especially since the last thing I saw online was that they would look at my current fingerprints (not digital but ink) and my picture and "let me know if they met current standards"...

Re: United Blood Services 30.06 sign need your opinion
I too doubt their excuse - and would more likely believe the possibility of someone "checking" his or her concealed carry piece. I have donated through Carter for years. They come to our church every three months or so and set up - no 30.06 signage ever and I have been armed every time - n...

Re: Bought My First Shield!
Got my shield not long after they came out - 3 month wait - and I have carried it almost daily since. I've put many rounds of 9mm through it - including over 1000 in 2 seperate defensive shooting classes. It has been wet with sweat many times, hot as I don't remove it when I do my duties as a volunt...

Re: Disarming at Seaworld, San Antonio was not enough
I'm quite surprised they let the knife in. Many years ago I had to take a regular pocket knife back to my vehicle at Fiesta Texas. I set off the metal detector (probably not the knife but the other stuff like change, belt buckle, etc) and they acted astonished that I thought I could take a pocket kn...

Re: Credit Unions and 30.06/30.07
My bank also posted 30.06 and 30.07 after the 1st of the year and I ended up speaking with the president about it, after a couple of e-mails back and forth. At 1st he held the line about "for the safety of customers and employees" junk, but when I didn't buy it and offered some rebuttal, h...

I have seen 2 OC so far: One at a restaurant in Gilmer and the other at a business in Longview.

Re: New church signs
There is provision written in the law for giving oral notice that one cannot carry, but as far as I know, there is no provision written in the law for oral notice allowing one to disregard a 30.06 sign. I would be very cautious with this.

Re: Need suggestion on how to proceed
If I remember correctly, there is a notification to the sheriff in your county of residence and he has an opportunity for "input". I'm guessing some local sheriff's don't put this on "front burner" if this is the case.

Re: 30.06 and 30.07 posted - at elementary schools?
Sometimes I have to do a quick check to make sure my Shield is in place. I do about everything with it on and sometimes momentarly forget. Our schools are not posted other than a sign at each parking lot entrance that says, " Attention - for the protection of our students some of the staff are ...

Re: Gun Buster Sign
This sign would have no affect on either my concealed carrying or my shopping at this particular shopping center. I consider it just a "feel good" sign for someone not really concerned about the carrying of guns. If, however, one or several of the stores in the shopping center posted legit...

loscar141, I would find a way to let the management know why I feel I need to shop elsewhere.
