Re: business improperly posting 30.06
LOL, obviously you know the area! When you drive into the parking lot, there is a metal sign affixed to the stop sign that says "No concealed handguns." Of course not enforceable, so I go my way, but they are trying to apply that even to the parking lot. Fortunatly, it is now the city police who patriol rather than off duty troopers. Several years back, there was a kid here in town that went gunning for his parole officer, and was on his way to the courthouse to get him. He was stopped before he got there, but (I am told by many) that's when all the signs went up all over town here... none of which are enforceable, but they think they are. Even more rediculous was the kid wasn't a CHL anyway!sugar land dave wrote:It seems rather Early for the Heartland to be so harsh towards legally carrying citizens. True... I was being facecious just saying I should be able to conceal better than that.sjfcontrol wrote:Um, only if it was INTENTIONAL failure to conceal! Otherwise you DON"T deserve to be arrested.wgoforth wrote:
Yup, like you say.. find out how? If my concealment is that bad, maybe I deserve to be arrested!

If my concealment is that bad, maybe I deserve to be arrested!speedsix wrote:...a lot of high-ranking officers are too busy to keep up with what the line troops have to know...but they're not as likely to be fired for getting the department sued because of a false arrest, either...the guys/gals we deal with on the streets, for the MOST part, know the law and keep up better...so IF someone finds out you're carrying(HOW?) and calls them...it may be a bit unpleasant but jail is unlikely...
...I've carried legally and not for the better part of 45 years...(and no, I am not endorsing lawbreaking, just stating the facts), and have often approached and talked to officers from many depts. while doing so...I have never been spotted...we can't be AFRAID of the threats made by ignorant public officials...or we'll live in fear...it would, if it ever came up, be a learning experience for the one who ordered/effected the arrest...we ALL have rules we have to follow...and penalties to pay when we don't...there have been suits already that have resulted in large settlements by the jurisdiction to the person falsely arrested...and they're more careful than they used to be...
...90% ( my guess) of the signage problems come from those who want to discuss them with the business...instead of going about our business, honoring the signs the law says we have to, and ignoring the rest...quietly...

Re: business improperly posting 30.06
The first saign saying "no loaded firearms" could be understandable and not aimed at CHL holders. People bring guns in to pawn regularly. You don't want somebody bringing a loaded gun in hand to pawn. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit, but I see that sign on most pawn shops and always assumed intention.
