The hawks and owls around my parents house kill a whole lot more snakes than my brother and I ever did growing up. Keeping poisonous snakes away from the house isn't going to impact their population much.

If you are concerned about recoil, the CCI 22 Mag snake shot works great out of the little H&R single action revolvers. Works well and groups pretty good at about 4 to 6 feet.
