I wish someone would damage those scanners. The TSA didn't purchase maintenance contracts on them, and congress has already blocked additional funding for them. So when a machine dies, it's dead.snorri wrote:I forgot to consider property damage.

Re: TSA and venues other than airports
It was sarcasm. I've emailed and called dozens of members of the legislature just about begging them to defend us against this nonsense. We need to start talking hard prison time for everyone in the TSA.VMI77 wrote:jordanmills wrote:But they're just doing their jobs!Snap E Tom wrote:Thanks Speaker Straus. Yeah, and where have we heard that before? The TSA says they're "just following procedure" --a slight modification from the line: "just following orders." This attitude leads to the same kind of place, which is why the phase used to be ridiculed. The fact that our government uses it now with a straight face signals a step into some very dangerous territory.
A 45 minute search of a 95 year old woman who can barely walk and has leukemia --and we will no doubt hear people trying to justify this as good "security." Because, hey, the world is full of middle class American women who are traveling with sick mothers they have rigged with explosives so they can both die in a fiery plane crash in order to advance the Islamic cause. They're everywhere. We've got to stop all these old ladies with explosives hidden in their Depends diapers, now, before it's too late --and the babies with explosives in their diapers too.
What's worse, that an American government is doing this, or that we have a population of people that think this is OK? The former can be fixed, the latter means we're doomed.

Re: TSA and venues other than airports
Well we need to start doing something about it. What are the chances of a county electing a sheriff who would post deputies and arrest these perverts on sight?
On a more personal note, why are people tolerating their friends and family becoming enemies of american citizens? I know that if anyone in my family tried to get on at the TSA, they'd be completely cut off. Does anyone even personally KNOW someone employed by the terrorists?
