I learned this lesson when I got an exhibition of acceleration charge at 17 years old after peeling out in front of an officer who had someone pulled over. Granted, I'd just gotten the car that day and wasn't used to the clutch, but the fact that he left the guy he'd pulled over and chased me down has stayed with me.
