They'd probably make you hire an off duty officer for this. . . they won't dedicate a patrolman to a private event.

Most cities will let you hire an off duty officer for $35-40 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours (you can always offer more if you don't get any takers or because it's last minute). Check with DPD to find out. If you get one, he should be able to do the serial number checks.

If you don't do it this time, it's a thought for the future. . .

Re: Pro Gun Rally (Gun Rescue)

Regardless, I doubt there will be that many people coming to trade in guns regardless of which group they choose to sell them to. . .

I doubt it'll look like a marketplace. If there is a lot of open carrying EBRs and tactical shotguns, the media will have a field day with that. . . just make sure that anybody who talks to a reporter is carefully crafting their thoughts into well-reasoned ideas that are succinct and cannot be clipped out-of-context.

If you say three sentences to a TV camera, they're likely to air four words. . . and they get to pick which four. Channel 5 came to my high school government class during the Monica Lewinsky / Kosovo ordeals. . . I was quoting a news report of a General in the classroom discussion, but the way they edited the clip made the words appear to be mine.
