I have been a LInux user for 10 years now. I run internet servers using Redhat and run Fedora for my desktop. Running a home server I wouldn't consider anything except Linux or Apple which is built on a Unix Kernel. Windows is too expensive, too many security issues and just plain too flaky to run a server on. The main advantage with a Linux server is that the Kernel allows the system to remain stable even if some small parts have issues. One of my internet servers hasn't even been rebooted in almost two years and does about 1 terabyte of data a month with millions of hits. You have to love Linux.
