Re: "Waiting Room"
I gave up on the letters to the State Rep and Govenors office, I had better luck email DPS. My last letter to them was not so nice then all off the sudden "Bam" the back ground check is compelete. Makes you wonder what the real truth is behind all of this. I prefer emails over phone calls ...

Re: June Applicants
Thanks, now let’s see how long it takes the mail man.
All those who are still waiting. I had the best luck getting this processed by contacting DPS via e-mail. Emailing the Governor’s office and my State Rep did not get a quick response.

Re: Harris County Applicants
I wounder what their excuse is for not processing your background check in the 91 days proceeding the storm. Don't feel bad, I went thru the course June 7th and DPS had all my info on the 13th of June. Still waiting on my background check. I contacted the Governor’s office and my local State rep an...

Re: September Applications
Called DPS-Austin again today...nothing. They're still waiting on Harris County. Ike certainly caused a lot of grief, but for Harris County to capitalize on Ike to hide their shortcomings is just outrageous. :mad5 I'm sure if I delayed my property tax payment, and blamed it on Ike, they wouldn't be...

Re: Who to contact in Harris County?
I feel your pain and felt your frustration, but contacting someone in Harris County isn't the answer. I was told by my contact in Austin that Harris county will take their time, and contacting them directly may tick off the person who is handling your BC :mad5 . Get a hold of someone in the DPS off...

Re: Harris County Applicants
Try asking DPS when they turned over your back ground check to Harris County. They wont tell you, why is that such a seceret? Is it due to the lack of personal at DPS? Whats pretty sad is tomorrow will make 5 months for me that DPS has had this application. Heck I dont remember it taking this long t...

Re: "Waiting Room"
I got one of those letters. Its now 148 days. Got a response form the Governors office last week that said the acting head of DPS is looking into the matter. What troubles me is I live 100 inland from the coast. I know NCIC and TCIC checks take about 2 minutes. I called yesterday to ask does DPS eve...
