Don't honk. Remember they don't pay you to fight fair, heck they don't pay you.... You are not the police nor are you required to follow their rules of engagement. The reason I say this is this incident in Miami a while back.

but he was severely injured. Remember, just what are you going to do if he hears you honk and he shoots the robbery victim, then starts shooting at you. Just shoot him until he is no longer a threat.
Never give up the advantage of surprise. Once you do decide to use deadly force, do so with extreme violence. Remember that second place in this situation sucks!
