You Lucky dog... I didn't get it yesterday but hope it will come in today's mail...
I know and it's very much appreciated. Some say it feels wrong or weird to carry, I didn't really feel that, but I have been carrying at home and work for months now. I took the wife out to Saltgrass last night to celebrate and after we went to Academy, Fry's and Spec's, my wife was concerned with that last one, but it's legal, no 30.06 sign and since it's not consumed on premises, no 51% sign either. I'm not a Wally fan, but I guess I'll do the walk tonight or tomorrow, I already asked the wife to take the pics. I'll post when complete. I hope yours shows in the mail today! :cheers2:

Finally got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :anamatedbanana

True Wally walk to come...

That is EXACTLY what I have been thinking to myself... I work in a bad part of town and don't like the idea of stopping at 0400 to get gas (if I was a bonehead and forgot to fill up the night before) unarmed outside of the car.

Re: Galveston County

Tireshred wrote:Hey that1otherdude, if I knew I'd send over some too!:
A friend here at work (in Harris County) took his class 3 days before I did and got his plastic last week... The only difference is that he lives and works in Harris and I live in Galveston and work in Harris... I'm a little jealous...

I'm down to only checking 25-30 times a day though :willynilly:

Re: Galveston County

Does anyone know which DPS office the BG checkers are at in Galveston and Harris county? I would be glad to send a really nice lunch over there (with my app number on each bag) to grease the wheels "rlol"

Tireshred wrote:You said it, living in this area has many advantages and disadvantages, but this is one I would never have thought of.

I have a new philosophy, I'm only going to check DPS once in the morning, I can only take so much disappointment.
I keep trying not to check it but my fingers do it anyway...

Has the DPS actually contacted you or just the Reps office?

Tireshred wrote:DPS called and said mine is waiting on Galveston County BC, they had no idea when they would get it. I'm not giving up. My State Rep Larry Taylor has been very helpful.

That's awesome! I received a call from Wes in Rep. Taylor's office and he has been really helpful... It is sad that the DPS is bungling this in our are so badly. Rep. Taylor is actually an advocate trying to get us all some help..

Re: Galveston County

Tireshred wrote:I wish I knew since I'm a fellow Galveston County resident. But from what I've read they do a BC in every county listed on your ap and since I work in Harris, it's probably going to be a sloooooowwwwww process. But that doesn't stop me from checking 4-8 times a day. :grumble

Oh man?!? I am in the same situation... Dang it... I didn't realize that they also check where you work?!?! Since I work in Harris, this is bad.... I called today and was told that they are only waiting on the "other" county background check for me since Galveston is done....

Oh well, maybe it'll be my Christmas present to myself this year....

Re: Galveston County

Thanks
Supposedly, the one Trooper doing the backgound checks for Harris County, was sent to Galveston for a month after the hurricane. depends on the number of applicants from Galveston County and the duties that Trooper was assigned to and for what length of time. or so I would think. it still amazes me how Harris county applicants who applied months after me are getting there plastic before me. I'm at 140 days today.
Have you tried contacting your State Rep yet? I have seen some other have some success by doing so.
