My son just turned 21. All State football player in high school, 'Mr. Everything' , all kind of awards for football, and baseball. Went to college on a football scholarship, made the varsity as a freshman. Was seriously injured in the third game that year, doctors said no more football because of the metal implant they had to put in his shoulder.ElGato wrote:+1txinvestigator wrote:Thats great. How old is your boy?
Prior to football, he didn't have much of an interest in anything but sports. After he could no longer play, he turned to being a baseball umpire, now he is doing college games and plans to attend the pro-baseball umpire academy when he graduates from college in another year and a half. Since he is no longer a player and having to spend so much time at practices, he has developed interests in other things. Two years ago, he went hunting for the first time and enjoyed it. This year he got his first deer. His attention is now including handguns and he will be attending a CHL course as soon as he gets an open Saturday.
As he was growing up, I never 'forced' any of my hobbies or things I like upon him, He was free to make his own choices and my role was to support him as long as he used common sense and made wise choices. Now I find that he is wanting to be more and more like his 'old man' every day.
