Just so you know that the P3AT is a picky gun. Different ammo, different performance. And I've never had a problem with Winchester ammo before.

Have fun with the new little shooter!

Hoss

Glad to hear you had a good time and that you found a round that it likes.

The difference in overall length of each cartridge (and bullet shape) can have a lot to do with how well it feeds.

Its great that it worked out for you.

Let me see . . . if I buy a widget from you then add a million dollars in diamonds to it . . . then send it back to you to add an extra screw . . . and then it’s lost. Why in the world would I expect you to reimburse me for the lost million in diamonds.

Now if I had notified you in advance that I expected you to add a million dollars in additional insurance out of your small profit for adding that screw, you could decide whether you wanted to add that screw or not. I seriously doubt that you advised Kel-Tec in advance you would require Kel-Tec add extra insurance at their own cost to cove your improvements to your slide.

While I can’t excuse Kel-Tec’s other errors, I consider their action on the slide replacement absolutely correct, except I wouldn’t have offered a repurchase. Anything more would be a stupid business decision.

I pointed out to friend recently not to have his pistol hard chromed by other than the factory until it was absolutely perfect. Any defective part replaced after it was hard chromed would be replaced with a part in the pistols original finish. He decide to gamble anyway :???:

Wilson,

I am going to forward this post to Kel-Tec just in case they're looking for someone. Sounds like you're "just their kinda guy".

Thank you, for your point of view...but lets get rid of all the "diamonds" and "million dollar" posturing, and bring this back down to earth.

The cost for Kel-Tec to insure the item I sent them is exactly what it cost ME to insure it when I sent it to them (a whopping $1.20)! UPS will insure items valued over $100.00 up to $300.00 for an additional $1.20 and then .40 per $100.00 after that.

And yeah, I expect to get back what I sent you. If upon receiving the item... you have any issues about insurance or your ability to perform the services requested, call me. Gunsmiths deal with this all the time. However, if you accept the package and agree to work on the item, then yes, you are responsible for it.

Certainly, it was not Kel-Tec's fault that someone at UPS stole the slide (the empty box actually arrived), but it remains their unfortunate responsibilty to file the claim and to have the item properly insured.

I was not trying to take advantage of Kel-Tec in any way. In fact, I paid the shipping three separate times to return it to them for warranty work. By the time I shipped it to them and Jack Fuselier (4 shipments total... just to get a gun that would function), I had about 1/4 the cost of the gun tied up in it.

I even gave my business address to them for return shipment, so it would save them money. I live in the country and it would have cost them more to deliver to a rural address. I did everything I could to be reasonable.

I dealt with the same service rep. each time...so he was familiar with my problems, the attempted remedies, the customized features, and how many times it had been shipped.

Now, if George Kelgren, his service rep. and you.. all went to the same business school and conclude that a $1.20 and a meager amount of personal service is just too much effort to put forth, then don't expect alot of repeat business from me.

You may take some solace in knowing that you made the proper business decision though! ;-)

Now thats a proper rant!

Just my .02 on it. Nothing personal.

Longtooth, either you have totally p***** someone off or you live under the darkest cloud in the world.

And a mighty big cloud too! It found me as well.
Here is a repost of something I entered awhile back. Absolutely true!

Nope, you're not the only one. My "fiasco" happened about 5-6 years ago when I purchased a P-40. It absolutely would not "run". I sent it back to them, waited 3 weeks. Called about it, got the run around, waited another 2 weeks, called again. They acted like it was a big bother to them, but they finally shipped it.

Pistol had not been touched that I could tell. It still wouldn't feed or eject more than 4-5 rounds before a stoppage. Sent it back again (on my nickle), waited 2 weeks, no word from them, e-mailed them with polite request for information. No response! Called at the end of the week, they said they'd check on it and get back to me. 5 days go by, no word. Called again, they act its just killing them to find out what the status is of my gun. Finally get it back 3 days later. Still "no dice", thing won't run.

Well, no point in sending it back to them, they obviously can't or won't fix it, and act all "put out" about it anyway. I decide to send it to Jack Fuselier to see if he can get it "up and running" and have him nickle plate the slide and magazines while he's at it. Comes back from Jack running slick as you please. He fluffed and buffed it, dehorned it, polished the bolt face, chamber, trigger job, etc...and now I'm happy with it.

Mistake number two: I want to have night sights put on it, and Kel-Tec has their own version that the folks at (org.) are saying is good.

So.......exercising extremely poor judgment, I send my slide off to Kel-Tec for the sights. This time, they get it back to me in two weeks (not bad at all) BUT one side of the rear sight has no tritium at all in it, the front sight is crooked and so dim it made me think I was going blind. I had several friends at work check it out. They said "what night sight"?

I call them back (oh dread), and they say "send it back" (big sigh). I send it back (again on my nickle), they install new sights and ship it off.

This time.. the thieving #$%^&^*'s at UPS ripped open the end of the box and steal the slide! I call Kel-Tec immediately to have them file a claim. They agree to do this and then tell me they will be sending a blued or parkerized slide to replace it. I told them that was not acceptable, that I had sent them a highly customized slide. They acknowledged as much, but still refused to send anything but a regular slide back. At this point I lost it. Folks, you couldn't give me a Kel-Tec, and frankly... I wouldn't bother sending one back for repairs either. I read of people praising their service department and can only surmise that someone else must be at the helm now. Doesn't matter, 'cause I'll never deal with them again.

Sorry for the rant, it still makes my blood boil, (and anyone that knows me will tell you thats a hard thing to do).

Flint.

I'm gonna pass on taking the opportunity to rant. No need in making my blood boil twice in the same month.

I realize products that are mass produced can sometimes have quality issues, so I don't get bent out of shape over that.

But, poor service and ATTITUDE is another matter altogether!

Yes, my dealings with Kel-Tec was quite a fiasco (on several levels), but the real reason I will NEVER do business with them again..is because of the patently indifferent attitude they took. I'm not talking about just one time. Heck, I allow everyone a bad day. I'm talking about being down right indignant over a period of about two months.

Anyway, I said I wouldn't rant. Well, maybe just a "mini-rant".

I hope everyone else receives a good product and good service from them. And I pray that their management has changed since I had to deal with them.

Flint.

Edit: I need to point out that my contact with Kel-Tec happened several years ago. Proofreading my post, it may sound like this was a recent event, and I want to be fair to the company. Still won't send another penny their way though.
