The "shoe throwing" (at least the first projectile) came so fast and unexpectedly...that Bush just had time to "duck it". The second shoe was easier to avoid, but... Bush absolutely stood his ground and moved only the minimum amount necessary to avoid being hit.
To the "shoe thrower's" credit...his aim was excellent...and he has a "pretty good arm".
Al Gore would have eaten both shoes....I am sure, and Barrack would probably just want to sit down with his attacker and find out what has him so upset.
