TexasCHLforum is just fine without OT discussions imho.
Another +1 for no OT forum, for the reasons previously mentioned. Namely it could lead us down a road that would degrade the quality of CHL and gun related discussions that we currently enjoy here.

Interesting answers.

The prevailing thought seems to be against any type of "chat" room. I have no problem with that. Perhaps it is best to simply exchange ideas about a subject that we are largely in agreement about (Firearms/CHL).

I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and replies.

Believe it or not folks, we just had a "Chat".

Like others, I have been to forums where "Chat" was not a place you wanted to hang out, and so I didn't. On other sites, it has been quite enjoyable.

Well, no harm in asking.

Wishing all a Happy New Year!

Chit-Chat section needed?

Seems we have grown to the point that the inevitable has happened. Religion, Politics, and other things that are a part of our daily lives... have begun to creep into threads posted here.

I do not consider that a "bad" thing, but it may be pointing to a need to have a separate section devoted to topics other than Concealed Carry.

Most large sites have a Chit-Chat section, and they seem to enjoy a large attendance. Many topics of interest are discussed, and I feel for the most part, they are beneficial to a forum.

A moderator would be able to "move" any post from another section to "Chit-Chat" instead of locking, or closing it.

Naturally, one would hope that all discussions would remain civil in nature, and that every forum member would exercise respect and common courtesy to his fellow members. These things tend to be somewhat self policing.

What say others?
