I don't have a weapon, I have a handgun.
Merriam states that a weapon is something used to injure, defeat, or destroy. I would put my weapon to use under any of these meanings. Not sure what the intent of your reply was.

As far as leaving the weapon in the car, this gives you an option. When you eliminate options, your actions are limited. In this case, if a person was banned from Jason's because of their carry status, they would have options. If that person chose not to patronize Jason's, then they have eliminated one option. It is good to have options, but we each have to decide what options we want to have.

Re: No longer patronizing Jason's Deli.

To satisfy your hunger if you truly have the need to eat at Jason's. I'm just saying that if they go legal, or if they aren't legal but find out you have a weapon and ask you to leave, you still have the option of leaving your pistol in the car and eating at Jason's. I guess it is running the risk of needing your weapon while in Jason's, but not having it. You would have to decide which has more importance to you.

Re: No longer patronizing Jason's Deli.

I think that is the wrong approach. If we live by the credo "I hope they don't know how to ban us legally", then we are doomed to be banned anyway. To me, it would be better to communicate with businesses and try to pursuade them that CHL folks are valued customers, and that we are no greater risk to them or their customers than any of the other people who patronize their business. Sure, that is a lot more work and effort, but considering all the work and effort that we go through to have and maintain our right to carry a weapon, it shouldn't be too great of a task.

Besides, if you really love Jason's Deli, you can still go there...just leave your weapon locked in your car.

Re: No longer patronizing Jason's Deli.

Purple, the only other thing you might do would be to get an email address for that store or their corporate office and voice your reason for not eating there. I think until we do more of that, many businesses won't have a clue about the impact of their ways concerning legal firearms on their bottom line. I know I always feel better when I don't frequent some store or restaurant with whom I don't agree policy wise, but I feel even better when I let them know the why. Sometimes I even get a response!

Some of the posters in this forum already do this, but we should get more of us to do it.
