If these children were being forced to sing a song about George Bush would any of you complain?

If public schools were forcing children, some of whom may not even be christian, to recite biblical verse, would you complain?

I somehow doubt it.
That's an unfair charge, dude, since you've got absolutely nothing with which to substantiate it.

Do I despise Obama? Yes. Did I vote for Bush. Yes. Twice. Would I find it disturbing if children were forced to sing a song extolling Bush's manifold virtues and blandishments? Absolutely. Why? Because both of them are mere men, nothing more, and neither is worthy of worship and idolatry regardless of their politics. Such is the refuge of the Kim Il Jung's, Joseph Stalins, and Saddam Husseins of the world. If you can't see that and are not disturbed by the video of these children singing of Big Daddy President (for life?) Barack Obama's beatific countenance, well then, there is no common ground extant upon which we can discuss the topic.

As far as Christianity in the schools, I certainly don't want to force it on any students whatsoever, even though I am, myself, an evangelical Christian. I believe in that principle just as strongly as I believe in the one that says schools have no business interfering with any individual student's individually expressed declarations of faith (or lack thereof) — as long as we are talking public schools here — including valedictorian addresses, etc. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;" etc., etc., etc.

That's America.
Bravo TAM. :clapping: That kind of comment just really burns my back side. This "what if" argument that keeps coming from the left-of-center is nothing more than a diversion. The fact is that conservatives don't offer idolic praise to political figures. I think that Reagan was a great President, but I wouldn't extole praise and worship on him. Churches that enjoy non-taxable status, are by law, not allowed to engage in politics. So, why is it that a public school that tax payer dollars support, can engage in political endorsement and gross pandering?? :rules:
