Yes, it is ultimately up to you -- mostly/specifically how you vote.VoiceofReason wrote:TexasJohnBoy wrote:This is exactly what I mean. The only alternative isn't a great one. We've already seen where so called "conservatives" will pass $1+ trillion budgets, so, the best you've got is to pray that someone supportive of #2 gets into office. ie - Not Hillary/Bernie. Don't split the GOP (that would guarantee a Dem win), and also pray that Bernie decides to go 3rd party. As far as congress goes, getting people in there who don't draft stupid bills at all is good as well. As stated, most bills don't see the light of day outside of a committee -- but if it's never referred to committee, it has zero chance of getting out. If it gets referred, there's a possibility.J.R.@A&M wrote:Single issue voting for whom? Your second amendment rights are ultimately dependent on who the POTUS nominates, and who the U.S. Senate confirms, to the SCOTUS. Beyond that, your second amendment rights are dependent on your state legislature (who would be voting on any proposed changes to the Constitution).
With respect, you can single issue vote for an independent or libertarian all you like, or just stay home in protest, but it won't help the situations that ultimately affect your second amendment rights.
Sorry for straying from the original topic.
And you are further correct in that the state legislatures are as important, if not more important, than US Senate/House.Your second amendment rights are ultimately dependent on you. The government may attempt to prevent you from exercising your rights but it is up to you whether to allow them to or not.Your second amendment rights are ultimately dependent on who the POTUS nominates, and who the U.S. Senate confirms, to the SCOTUS.

Sarcasm aside, the Democrats will definitely not save us. And a more pure 3rd party would save us in their party platform only, while losing at the ballot box. So what is the alternative?
